(Easy) Computer Tweaks For Non-Geeks

October 31, 2008

I recently wrote a self-help ebook for my mom.

Well, OK. It wasn’t just for her. I have given it to anybody I thought could use it.   (You can too!)

Why?   Because I’m Selfish!   Let me explain.

On numerous occasions I have been found spending hours on the phone, or at the home (or business), of a friend or family member, going through various utilities to help them out with their slow running computer.

I really don’t mind helping someone to get thier slow computer to run a litte more efficiently, but there are two things that can be said about it.

  • First, it can be quite time consuming for the simple fact that typically by the time I get asked for help, the computer is running so slow, you can barely run the utilities that will help improve its performance.
  • Secondly, one of the main reasons it has gotten so slow, is that many people just don’t know that there are certain things they can do on a regular basis to help prevent their computer from running slow in the first place.

So, motivated by my own selfishness, I thought if I could write down some of the techniques I have walked (talked) others through over the phone, maybe I could just give it to them and they could keep thier own PC running more efficiently.

So far, so good. I have only recieved compliments on it!

It’s extremely basic with step by step instructions and screenshots.

I have it as a webpage and as a saveable (and printable) PDF version.

I encourage you to take advantage of my efforts and help out any one you think might benefit from it.

It Might Even Free Up Some Time For You!
